Where Am I?

I wish I’d a £ for every time I’ve been asked that question - though each time i have been and the customer did find me, i would have ended up with at least one!

I’m in my home town, Dundee, Scotland’s 3rd/4th city with a population of some 160,000. Dundee lies on the east coast, beautifully situated on the river Tay, midway between Aberdeen, one hour to the north, and, Edinburgh, our capital city, one hour to the south.

Within Dundee I’m very central, less than a mile north west of the city square in the Blackness area which sits midway between the westbound Perth road & the Lochee road, the main NW artery from the centre.

An adjacent landmark is the 'Verdant Works', Dundee’s award winning ‘jute’ museum. This is very well signposted all over town and is 150m away. Within 100m is the excellent Beiderbecks, formerly The Royal Oak, the well-known & well-frequented restaurant with bar. To the front, the view from my windows is monopolised by the sprawling campus of the University of Dundee. Besides all that, the Blackness Industrial Area is signposted at least locally.

The Blackness Industrial Area comprises several buildings which were once a hive of activity in the jute trade, an industry that once gave work to over 50,000 Dundonians. The various buildings were converted into workshops, showrooms & offices some 15-20 years ago and now as many as 100 diverse businesses trade from here. My showrooms in the 2nd biggest building, Douglas Court, which is adjacent to the biggest one, the 5-story high Meadow Mill, itself a landmark.leaving behind the ten years of ‘phase one’.
